knitting patterns for beginners uk
How do i knit a flat circle on straight needles?
I'm making a hat which is kinda like a dinosaurs head... i've done the actual hat, spikes to go on top and teeth to put on the front and all i need now is the eyes... any idea how to do this?
I'd like them to be about 2 inches as a rough estimate and i'm using 7mm needles. I dunno what wool it is, i just brought the cheapest ones in the shop 
(i'm a beginner) The label says it's called Toytime DK, if that means anything to you.. also, i'm from the UK if that helps? Also, keep the instructions pretty basic, I don't really understand knitting patterns so if you can explain in sentances that'd be perfect. (eg, Knit for 3 rows.)

Knitting a true circle on straight needles isn't really possible. Like others have said, you're looking at DPNs or circulars if a perfect circle is your goal.
That said, you can fudge it by knitting a hexagon or some similarly circle-ish shape.
Try this:
Cast-on 3 sts.
1: K3. Turn.
2: K1, inc, K1, inc, K1. Turn.
3: K5. Turn.
4: Dec, K1, dec. Turn.
5: K3. Turn.
Bind-off 3 sts.
This will give you a small garter stitch hexagonal piece, which should be round enough for eyes. If you prefer stockinette, change rows 1, 3, and 5 to purls, but keep in mind this will make the piece curl like crazy, which could make sewing the eyes on to your hat that much more challenging.
You can use any increase you like for this, except for yarn-overs, since that'll give you holes, which you don't want. I suggest doing SSK, K1, K2TOG for row 4, as that will give you matching decreases and symmetrical sides, though since this is written in garter stitch it probably won't show too much if you just knit two together for both decreases.
