m1 increase knitting
i am trying to learn new knitting pattern. What does M5 : (P1, K1) twice, P1 in same st: 5sts worked in one st?
the pattern is call Gooseberries on a knitting book I brought but I could not following it on learning how to make the pattern. I know P1 is perl 1 and k1 is knit one but don't understand M5, I understand M1 is increase 1 stitch
The pattern is calling this stitch a 'M5'. It is telling you to P,K,P,K,P all in one stitch. So P1 like anything else, but do not drop the stitch off your left needle. Take the yarn in back and make a knit stitch in the same stitch, and again leave the stitch on the left needle. Do this 3 more times, and then drop the stitch off your left needle. You now have 5 stitches on the right needle all using just one stitch from the left.
