loose knitting
My knitting on the first row makes a few stitch's get loose..?
Okay...What I mean is I know how to do the rows and things but whenever I do my first row a few stitch's will like..I don't know get loose so they just look like little loops. In the end, (I'm making a scarf, or planing to anyway) can I tighten in so those few loose stitchs will tighten or...or what can I do? What am I doing wrong?? The worst part is it keeps happening so I'm trying to be calm and do it slow...but slow is not good!
It's not unusual for that to happen. As you knit, try to maintain an even tension. If the last few stitches of the first row are extra loose, it's probably caused by knitting into the cast-on row and letting those cast-on stitches become slack--an expected result. Just keep on knitting. When you have completed several inches, set the stitches by pulling the knitted fabric vertically (perpendicular to the needle).
The loose stitches should disappear into the fabric. If not, as the item is used and washed, over time the stitches will even out.
P.S. I have that problem with long-tail cast on but not with cable cast-on, and the more stitches cast on, the worse the problem is likely to be. It's likely that the problem will diminish on its own as you gain more experience and your knitting becomes more consistent from stitch to stitch.
