15 meter extension aerial-cable and no channels found (freeview)?
I live in a flat and share the antenna with upstairs occupier. The aerial cable comes into the living room.
I have a tv and Freeview box (cheap one) in living room and near perfect reception. No problem there.
I have bought a little tv for the kitchen with buildt-in Freeview.
I added a splitter-thing to the incoming aerial, and connected the existing tv and freeview box up to this.
No problem.
I then ran a 15 meter extension from the splitter to the kitchen -no signal what so ever. (Just a bit of analogue but very bad).
I have the feeing that it is because the splitter, cable and connectors were of v. cheap quality (e.g. £5.99 for the set), and was going to try to use a sat type aerial (One of better quality and with more copper wire knitting thing on it) but the man in the house has asked in electrical stores and they say that this would not make any difference but that we need indoors antenna or new cable from roof antenna. Are they right?
when you split an aerial connection you are also splitting the strength of the signal, and with 15 metres extra to travel your signal strength is too weak. You need to install a booster system to amplify the signal. As for the electrical store if I were you I wouldn't trust anything they had to say.
