knitting scarves beginners
Beginner needs help with making scarves?
I'm learning to knit from a book. I am making scarves as Christmas presents and the first several rows keep coming out wider than the rest of the scarf. I have tried to keep the tension the same but no matter, it keeps happening! Any suggestions??
1. count your stitches on every row. you may be inadvertently increasing.
2. knit the first few rows on a smaller needle, until your knitting evens out, and then change to the larger needles.
3. Increase at the end of the scarf to mirror the size at the beginning, and call it part of the design.
