knitting beginner socks
I need some one with experience in knitting socks?
I know only the basics of knitting, but I saw a pair of knitted socks and they were so cool. I was wondering how hard would it be for me to learn how to knit socks. Like I saud I know the basics of knitting but that is all. Also I would like to know how much would it be to start up for a beginner and what exactly would I need. I don't have a lot of money and I would like someone who knows about this to help me out if they could. I would really appreciate some help

I taught myself to knit socks recently and I'm having fun with it now. You can knit socks on either 5 double pointed needles, or one long circular needle or two smaller circular needles. I use 5 dpn's (that stands for double pointed needles. Sock yarn is somewhat expensive, the cheapest I have bought was $12. You need 100 grams to make a pair of socks for an adult. It would be cheaper if you used acrylic instead of wool, but they would not be very comfortable socks. You could look for cotton though, that tends to be cheaper and would make nice summer socks.
So, I would say save up your money until you have enough to buy the needles you want (I recommend 2.25 mm size in bamboo, because the yarn stays on wooden needles better than metal needles, which is too slippery for me.) Then practice knitting in the round.
