double knitting tutorial
is it possible to knit stockinette on both sides interlocked/interlaced in one color?
this is probably a completely weird question, but i have to ask.
from what i can gather it's called double knitting, but from tutorials they often have two yarns with two colors. i want one color. and i'm thinking it should be interlocked, the right side and the wrong side is knitted together not in a tubular way. should also mention i'm making a scarf.

yes. it's called double knitting, and can be done in any combination of colors. what you end up with is essentially a tube, but you can lock it together by occasionally switching a stitch from one side to the other. they often show it in two colors because it's easiest to understand that way. you can complete articles which can then be entirely separate this way, or you can interlock them so that they remain in the shape in which they were knitted. there's a technique for knitting two socks at the same time that uses double knitting and you end up with two separate socks at the end. for what you want, use any double knitting tutorial you find, just make sure you use the colors you want, or in this case, the one color you want. in order to keep it stuck together I would switch about one stitch in ten, every few rows or so, that should be plenty.
